We live in the only planet we have. The problems afflicting the Earth are many and there is the risk of transforming the Earth in a dry heath or a huge rubbish dump. Species of wild fauna and flora are dying out in a rhythm never seen before and which in the last few years soared vertiginously.
The concentration of noxious substances in the biosphere, released by big industries, transports and by our daily activities, has reached worrying levels.
The natural landscape is bearing radical transformations, it is putting on the aspect of asphalt and cement esplanades, industrial colossus, beehive buildings, shopping malls, on account of the economic requirements of the society we live in.
The man is the main cause to the problems that frazzle the ecosystems. Something can be, or rather, must be done.

In the whole world the climate is changing, temperatures are rising, ice is melting and there is an increment in extreme climatic phenomena, from hurricanes to floods. Human responsibilities are now scientific evidence, confirmed by IPCC specialists (Intergovernmental Panel on climate change). At the base of climatic changes is accumulation of CO2 (carbon dioxide) produced by burning of fossil fuels (coal, oil and gas).
WWF considers it essential to start a real Industrial Revolution based on efficiency, energy saving and appeal to renewable and clean energy sources, starting from solar and wind power. As a matter of fact, renewable sources do not only contribute to increasing greenhouse gas emissions (they do not release CO2), but they are also unlimited and extensively diffuse on the earth's surface.
WWF is active in the whole world putting pressure on governments and companies to reach these objectives, also through informative and awareness campaigns oriented towards the general public, coherently with objectives set by Kyoto Protocol on climate change. It is necessary to change energy and get on to alternative energies. For this reason, WWF is active in the Climate Generation campaign: efficient by Nature. The man is the main cause to the problems which frazzle the ecosystems. Nevertheless, it is true that we are not in a no-exit spiral. Something can be, or rather, must be done.
